Property development and asset management group Salta has welcomed popular international hospitality group, Nando’s, as a new major tenant to its commercial office building at 678 Victoria Street, Richmond.
Located within the Victoria Gardens precinct, the new river-fronted dual-floor tenancy approximately 1000sqm in size, is now home to Nando’s new headquarters, support office and flagship restaurant.
The announcement adds another major global brand to the growing list of businesses within Salta’s Victoria Gardens commercial offering – including Swatch, Ansell, Fonterra, Ford and co-working group Waterman.
“We are delighted to welcome another household name to Victoria Gardens. The precinct is increasingly being recognised as a great place to work, play and live thanks to its convenient location close to the CBD as well as outer-east suburbs, access to retail and hospitality outlets within the shopping centre, as well as ample carparking and proximity to the Yarra river”, said Salta Director of Asset Management, Melissa Kidd.
“Nando's is a business proudly focussed on creating vibrant experiences for its people and its customers, and at Salta we share that ethos. We couldn’t be more pleased to welcome a group such as Nando’s into the fold at Victoria Gardens, who will add to the precinct’s already great amenity, but will also illustrate the enduring value that Victoria Gardens can offer for others looking for a dynamic and connected workplace environment in Melbourne.”
Working closely with the team at Nando’s, Salta created a tailored solution for the leading hospitality group’s rapidly expanding arm of its Australian and New Zealand business. This resulted in a customised fit-out solution to provide flexible, open-plan office space complete with collaboration zones for Nando’s support workers, incorporating the unique South African design identity and cultural expression of the business. This design approach continued through to the flagship restaurant below, designed to be a brand showcase for Nando’s staff, customers, suppliers and partners.
“Salta enabled a perfect solution for our growing Australian/New Zealand business. Set to open seven new restaurants in the next 12 months, we saw an opportunity to find a new, larger home that could create an inspiring environment that our team would want to come back to,” said Chief Development Officer at Nando’s Australia/New Zealand, Scott Hamilton.
“We craved a unique building with character, somewhere bright, open and inviting, and the river-fronted space at Victoria Gardens met all of our needs. With an abundance of natural light, it is safe and secure, with plenty of parking and public transport options and of course access to brilliant amenities in Victoria Gardens with everything our team could possibly need.”
“The layout brings our Restaurant Support team together on the upper level and allows us to create a spectacular river-front restaurant on the lower level. We’ve been able to create a truly contemporary and youthful expression of the Nando’s brand in partnership with Salta and couldn’t be happier with the end result!”
Located just five kilometres south-east of Melbourne CBD, Nando’s new address is conveniently nestled in between the Yarra River and the iconic Victoria Gardens Shopping Centre, which is co-owned by Salta and Vicinity Centres and is anchored by major tenants IKEA, Kmart and Coles.
With a 10-year lease agreement in place, Nando’s is poised to benefit from major expansion plans earmarked for Victoria Gardens, which will see a multi-million-dollar upgrade for a sustainable, urban village, that will produce more than 3,300 ongoing local jobs across the precinct upon completion.
“Salta have been custodians of the wider Victoria Gardens precinct for 30 years. Our vision is to unite Victoria Gardens with Richmond’s evolving urban environment via wide, active street frontages, a new fresh food market hall, civic plazas, and a network of open-air laneways that will truly connect the centre to its surrounds – including the Yarra – for the first time for everyone to truly, live, work and play,” added Kidd.
Nando's celebrated the grand opening of its flagship restaurant on Tuesday 29 October, with all support staff now moved into the headquarters facilities.
